Does anyone live in Portishead/ Clevedon?

I'm a long way off but for a retirement, I would like to move to Portishead / Clevedon area. It might be a silly dream but for me and my mental health a daily dog walk on the beach makes the world ok. I've lived near the beach before although that was right on the sea front at Hove and I love it -we spent a very happy 5 years there.

Potentially an move could be made in 5 years time, suitable for everyone's school, uni etc. So that when I retire in hopefully less than 15 years the children and I have friends and a network there. So we are starting to think ahead.
We know Clevedon. Portishead less so -but walked around both a lot. But we have not lived in either. It would be a huge move but 3 very good friends have all relocated near that area -so we would already have connections and parents are not far away (Outskirts of Bristol).

Anyone from either place on here?

We’re nearby and thinks both areas are great. Portishead for me probably trumps Clevedon as has the great marina, full of bars and restaurants, Outdoor swimming pool, great pubs overlooking the sea. Value for money regarding house is slightly better in Clevedon I think!

Do you know what the secondary schools like? Mine will probably go to Bristol Grammar although I know Nailsea and Backwell & Katherine Lady Berkley etc I don't know Clevedon or Gordano?

We like outdoor, the kids want to learn surfing, sailing etc, they also do drama club? But I'm also looking for me -I like crafting, sewing , knitting, book clubs etc.

Gordano and Clevedon both ‘outstanding’ schools. My friend teaches at Gordano and says it’s great, lovely kids etc. I’ve also got a very happy niece there. My friends son goes To Clevedon as is doing really well- enjoying the sports there and is achieving high grades. They are happy with the school.

Personall I would avoid Katherine school.
Backwell has a better rep than Nailsea as well.

I would say living Gordano/Clevedon way and communing to BGS in the morning would be pretty awful!! The traffic in that direction is terrible in rush hour, would take about an hour... worth trying out the commute!
