Moved into dream house...but hate the road

Help!

I really don’t know what to do. My partner and I moved into a house we loved two months ago. It was a house we lost out on and then managed to get as it had fallen through with another buyer. However, the road is much much busier and noisier than I thought it would be and I don’t know what to do.

It’s not a main road, more of a through road, but there’s a waste place at the end of the road with some building supplies companies located on an estate..and the road is just lorries going up and down pretty much all day long.

We did do research and asked questions etc. before buying and were told it gets busy, but it’s not too bad, and it’s quiet on evenings and weekends. However it’s just so much more worse than I though, and I’m gutted that a house I wanted to pour my heart into and stay for a long time has turned into this.

There are some saving graces...it is just Monday to Friday (although it is from around 8AM to 4PM), the evenings and weekends are quiet, it seems to just impact the front of the house, the back is pretty quiet, and I am WFH full time for now, which I presume won’t be the case forever.

I’m just gutted that this is not the forever home I though it was and now I don’t know whether to invest to improve/make nice or just to keep my money in the bank and sell in a couple of years!

Sorry to hear this. I've been in that position and it's soul destroying - however I stayed in said house for nine years before selling up.

If it is the noise that is the issue, you could try ways that might minimise the impact - e.g. seal any gaps in windows; plant trees/hedging; play low level music in house etc.
