Mortgage accepted! When can we start buying furniture?

Just got the call from our mortgage advisor that our mortgage has been fully approved and we are now moving onto solicitors.

The sellers want a quick sale and want us in the house within 4 weeks from now.

Contract not signed yet but when is a 'safe' time to start buying furniture?

Hello, I know this post is old but I needed some advice. We have exchanged contracts on a house but are yet to complete and we foolishly ordered a new sofa at dfs and everyones saying we shouldn't of done it until we completed and im now very worried. What can I do ?

I have had my keys over a month and only just started ordering furniture for our house, still holding off on big things like sofas as the carpets aren't even down yet.

Unless you are buying a perfect turn key expect to need to do thing.

If you have exchanged it’s very unlikely you won’t complete as planned

Its a new build so we are having all carpets put in. It will be ready to move into but my worry is now that we havnt completed yet and ive been told they will do a final credit search and I am worried it will go against my offer of my morgage. Everything's gone through but are waiting to complete has the house is still being done.

We didn't buy anything until we'd moved in and could get a feel for the place, the measurements, and where we'd like things to go. Our first furniture was a blow up bed and a couple of garden chairs. Little things like cutlery and crockery and bedding you can get straight away but large items like sofas, dining table, wardrobes etc we waited and measured up.

I’d be careful about buying anything on finance - they could credit check you again at any point up until completion.
However if you’re buying outright I’d start ordering things 😊

Yep - do not put anything on interest free credit until you have completed! It shows up as a debt on your credit rating and affects affordability.
