Is it worth building an extension 1.5M wide?

We live in a new build and feel like we have no space. We have a downstairs utility and toilet. If we removed them we could have a decent sized and open plan kitchen/dining/living room.

I would still want a utility and toilet. Would a side extension at 1.5m be worth the money and hassle? We have 8m in length at the side of the house. Would you use the whole space?

I say get yourself a decent architect who will optimise your limited space - we did and were amazed at the space they created with clever storage ideas too, things I would never have thought about.
Also, have a look online for ways to incorporate utilities for example integrated bins and recycling systems.
Its nice to think all of that is squirrelled away out of sight and out of mind! :)
