How long does it take you to paint a bedroom?

DH started on Monday to redecorate our bedroom. He's on annual leave this week and it was his choice to do so.

It's Friday and still only half done. It's an average sized double bedroom. The first day was spent stripping wallpaper.

I've painted rooms before and it's taken me a couple of days tops.

I've just gone up there and he's staring at the wall waiting for some polyfiller to dry, whilst another wall is all ready to be painted.

I'm going to have to live with another week of disruption aren't I? Grin

Fraid so by the sounds of it! Just painting and normal prep, a few days. Taking off wallpaper etc probably a week on my own.

Is he by chance avoiding doing childcare or other tasks that need done?

It takes me a week, all-in, on my own. That includes woodwork, walls, everything. My DH is crap at decorating because he hates doing it. Whereas I am brilliant at it because I love it! On my own ALL DAY with the radio going and secret biscuit stash.

admittedly replacing wallpaper with wallpaper but it took my OH 3 months to redecorate our bedroom that was strip paper, gloss woodwork, paint ceiling and put the wallpaper on, he was sooo slow his idea of papering was four-five strips a day

I mean pretty much anything must be faster than me. I’m 6 months in to one bedroom 😂. Although in fairness to me I have two small children who are not massively compatible with wallpaper paste, gloss paint, caulk or filler so it’s taking some doing. Oh and there was 4 layers of paper to take off and about 3 times as many built in wardrobes as anyone would ever find necessary in a room that size.

It takes me 10 days from the first day where I clear the room to the last day when I do the finishing touches (curtains lights etc) that's not wall paper tho but is removing shelfs etc, filling holes washing walls and removing /refitting carpet. I've done four since lockdown and am feeling pretty smug. rest of house looks like a hovel

Just painting 2 days max including woodwork.

Extra for strip, prep, filling and sanding

A day or two prep depending; to paint: a day for each coat. Maybe an extra day for woodwork.
