Non-chrome flush for toilet - ANYONE?

WoolyMammoth55 · 28/06/2020 17:50

Hello property gurus,
I've got to order the new bathroom this week because plumbing first fix is happening tomorrow!
I'm doing dark wood-effect Quickstep floor, marble-effect panels in the shower, white gloss tiles around the bath, a green feature wall and brushed gold shower and taps. Very happy with it coming together!
BUT I can't for the life of me find a loo with ANYTHING except a chrome flush. DH is strongly against the only solution I'd found, which was a gold push for a concealed cistern - he likes to have easy access to the cistern (for purposes unknown but let's not enquire too deeply...)
I'd take white, black, brass - literally anything to stop a plastic chrome push button from ruining my lovely bathroom.
Anyone found or got anything that would fit the bill?? Please HELP!
X

This one comes with a choice of colours for the push plate www.crosswater.co.uk/product/kai-compact-close-coupled-wc-with-cistern-and-soft-close-seat
Not a budget version

And this brand has a choice of push plates. www.grohe.co.uk/en_gb/bathroom/design-trends-designer-flush-plates.html

I have a very fancy one you wave your hand in front of. No handle at all . I really recommend it.

WoolyMammoth55 · 28/06/2020 19:05

Thanks for your help @bestbefore! Are all those push plates for wall-mounting with a concealed cistern?
DH is strongly advocating for an exposed cistern toilet which means we need the actual flush button in another colour - do the Grohe and Kai brands offer that? A non-chrome flush on an exposed cistern?
I know I might be missing something but from my initial look it seems like the coloured plates are all wall-mounted. Aargh!

Thanks @sluj - can you tell me the make so I can try to google it?

Ooh @GingerFluffycat that's very interesting - now just have to find a non-retro level flush loo to fit it to!

Ideally would be dual flush for water-saving... Google isn't showing me much but surely those exist? Will be on the phone in the morning!
Thanks very much all X

Hang on someone I follow on insta shared her brushes brass ones the other day. It’s @theroseandthewood. She hasn’t put the link on her highlights so I can’t find the link for you but it was an eBay seller which I can’t remember the name of! I warn you though, you’ll fall down an Instagram interiors rabbit hole if you look on her page 😂

Like this? Not sure if they ship to the UK or not though as the price is in USD.

If you google "touchless flush" you will see several choices that are compatible with concealed cisterns. You can have any toilet you like with it. Its battery operated but we haven't changed our batteries yet and we have had it three years. Just normal AA batteries. There is no button just a little sticker pad to show where to wave your hand. We put the white sticker on but there is a clear one too. It about the size of a 10p. Very easy to clean and great if you find the push button ones stiff to operate.
I got mine mail order from Bathroom Magic in Dudley. We love it . Smile

Veterinari · 29/06/2020 13:28

They're all levers @rbe78

OP wants a push press

Alwayscheerful · 29/06/2020 15:27

I have a large Geberit smoked mirror effect flush button and a beautiful white glass flush button. Both are very neutral. (If it is possible for a toilet flush to be beautiful).

RedCatBlueCat · 29/06/2020 15:33

gold, duel flush button
Is this what you are after?

RedCatBlueCat · 29/06/2020 15:36

black

I'm guessing I've got the wrong thing tho.... can you put a picture of the chrome version of what you are looking for?

minipie · 29/06/2020 15:43

I have flush plates in white and brushed stainless steel/nickel, both Geberit. But they are designed to be used with concealed cisterns.

All our concealed cisterns are designed so that we can still access the cistern, by lifting off a shelf on the top of the box built around the cistern. The shelf is attached with silicone which is easy to cut through if need be.

Also, the flush plates are designed to be removable and large enough to allow access to the cistern, so it’s possible to sort most plumbing problems that may arise.

In case this helps persuade your DH about concealed cisterns...

Thanks so much to you all for the helpful replies! @RedCatBlueCat nailed it though - I will be snapping up both of those push button options today so that the plumber has options :)
Thanks @minipie too for your kind comment - apparently DH's trauma is something with a concealed cistern in his dad's house as a child... For better or worse he just doesn't like them!
Feel amazed that we found the solution so fast, I've honestly spent weeks Googling! - I do love the Mumsnet team

I wanted to thank you for this thread as I'm having the exact same issue! Picking either black or copper taps etc and looking at an ocean of chrome on toilets. Can't have concealed cistern as no space to put a stud wall in! Did you get the flush buttons posted above? Are they the right thing (I'm paranoid about buying parts because everything seems to only match up with one particular toilet or something)
