Help! Do Dulux retail and trade have same colours?

I'm a first buyer a.k.a. new DIYer. After trying several samples from F&B and Little Greene, I realised it would cost me a fortune to paint several areas in our recently purchased house with their paints.

So now I thought I would go for Dulux and about to order a few more samples. My question is whether I can get testers from Dulux retail and purchase same colours from Dulux trade? Would this work?

I know Dulux trade has different pigments, etc, but they only sell 250ml tester pots, which would be too much quantity for me for the purpose, especially if I don't like them. So I thought I may want to try with retail samples and then order from Trade range as they have same name colours?

I should remind you I'm super new DIYer! Please help!

Same colours, more or less. Trade is better to work with but the retail version is no slouch either, just thin it a bit.

Deluxe trade can pretty much match any colour you bring to them. Have used both, but trade is def better quality,

Trade all the way, when I bought my house I used trade and it lasted almost 10 years! I've recently redecorated and it's not trade, it's looking scuffed already in places. It's definitely worth paying that bit more for trade.

If you like a posh brand colour you can get it mixed or find a close alternative For example F&B sulking room pink here

If you like a F&B colour you can tell Dulux trade and they will colour match.

Yes I believe you can get all the retail colours in Trade finishes and a load more besides. They used to send out cheap testers in a kind of little blister pack, I think if you go to a Decorator Centre they have good quality colour charts. I'm a big fan of the Trade range, they do a decent selection of Heritage colours as well.
