Lost out on dream house

We keep losing out on our dream homes SadThere is absolutely nothing on the market here but when they do come on they go within days for crazy prices over asking. Was just wondering if there are people out there who this worked out for in the end, 'what's for you will not go by you' and all that!

You need to be on the local estate agent's radar, if they know you are serious and proceedable, they should be calling you about new properties before they hit the Internet.

What area are you looking in?

We had exactly this 8 years ago. Very little on the market that met our criteria (which weren’t that picky and we were prepared to compromise a lot!) and it was absolutely a seller’s market.

Finally we got lucky. We had missed out on a house with sealed bids, but the buyers withdrew a month later and we were offered first refusal (at the higher price). We leapt at it and are still here!

Something will come up eventually but you might need to re-think your budget / location.
Another option is to find [another] dream house, and post a note through the door asking to buy it. Might work, might not!
