Are they any good?
How small does your lawn need to be?
What brands are good?

No, but I recently bought a push cylinder mower and I’m very impressed with it.

We have a petrol mower. It’s great!

KingOfDogShite · 04/06/2020 20:27

Fucked that up didn’t I!

FaceOfASpink · 04/06/2020 20:29

Yep and I'll never go back to a corded one. It's a Bosch.

leolion1 · 04/06/2020 20:32

I've got a push mower and love it. The comments off my neighbours and sympathetic offers of using their electric ones however irritate the hell out of me.

I've used it on different gardens, huge ones, lumpy ones and it always does a good job but won't cut long grass.

LolaSkoda · 04/06/2020 20:56

Would never go back to a corded one given the choice! I just bought a basic £100 one from Argos and it’s still going strong four years later. Garden is average new build size and the battery recharges in about half hour if needed.

Thanks for all the fab info

I don't think a shower would work for dh as he struggles with mowing anyway (he has a disability)

Shower=manual mower

Goodness knows how autocorrect did that!!

Yes. I love it. Faffing around with cables is a PITA. Our garden isn't very big, and one charge of the battery gives me two mows. The battery takes about 40 minutes to charge.

& B&Q arent delivering

I have this one from Amazon, and am very pleased with it.

2catsand2kids · 06/06/2020 18:18

We have an Ego power one, it’s amazing. It wasn’t cheap but we have a large garden and it does the whole front and rear garden with plenty of battery power to spare, plus the battery charges really quickly

Swearwolf · 06/06/2020 18:24

Does your DH need to do the mowing if he struggles? Mine has terrible hay fever so mowing is always my job...

We have a petrol one and it's great. I hated the corded one!

Ginfordinner · 06/06/2020 19:34

I always cut the grass. I do 99% of the gardening because I enjoy it.

KatyMac · 06/06/2020 20:13

He likes it (he's so medicated up hayfever doesn't get a look in)

Our Garden is quite small 6x7m ish our petrol one is far too large & we have solar panels so electric makes sense

I'll have a look on Market place or eBay I'm trying to give Amazon a miss (although it's hard)

We have a Bosch cordless we bought last year. Charges in about 20 mins, does the large back and front lawns in one charge.
Utterly brilliant, wish I'd bought it years ago.

Got totally fed up with faffing about with a heavy petrol mower that was a pain to start.

fartyface · 06/06/2020 21:28

we have one and it is amazing. Our garden is large and it takes 2 charges to do it all, so we either have a cup of tea in the middle or do strimming or other gardening while it charges.

Nomorewineever · 06/06/2020 21:32

Yes. Spear and Jackson. Wasn’t spendy. Absolutely better the heavy and cumbersome petrol mower we had before. And quieter and lighter. So much easier to manoeuvre and use.

Ginfordinner · 06/06/2020 21:32

My lawnmower came with two batteries so I don't have to wait for one to charge up. I just swap them over.
