Home insurance during extension building works

Seems that my current home insurance company won't cover my building works for a single storey extension and I need to get a new home insurance policy from somewhere else. Any advice on where to go?? Genuinely a bit confused about why it was rejected, but that is another matter!!

I had the same issue with my home insurance company (Admiral). I went to a broker and they sorted a new policy for me. It ended up costing about the same as my previous policy did, but with lots of exclusions about what they'd cover though none of them were entirely unreasonable given the extra risk.

I used thehomeinsurer.co.uk but others have recommended www.towergate.com

Thanks @Ecthelion, I will look into that.
