SLUGS! And rubbish landlord.

We have slugs. In our bathroom, in our kitchen, in our lounge. Everywhere.

I have no idea where they're coming from or why they've started coming in. It's not like our house is filthy (but it's not sparkling IYSWIM).

It's a rented house, and I've written to the landlord but, funnily enough, he doesn't seem bothered.

Help me? Either with getting rid of the slugs or giving the landlord a swift kick.

DON'T stop paying the rent as that leaves YOU in breach of contract and with very few rights. How long since you wrote to the landlord? Have you had any response at all?

Hmm, I think - but am not positive - that slugs like damp conditions. They have probably come in over the summer because of the huge amounts of rain. Does your house have any damp spots? Also think like previous poster said that they come in through gaps in external walls, do you have any ideas where they might get in? Maybe through gaps where there are pipes for a washing machine or other applicance? Or are there piles of damp leaves or bricks or anything else piled up outside? You can also get slug pellets but if you have children that most probably is not a good idea!

Very poor of the landlord not to reply to your letter but if he does he will probably blame the weather and unless you can find out how the slugs are getting in, it could be very difficult to get him to do anything.

lots of sympathy, I also have big slug problems, also damp problems also plaster beetles in bathroom (they only live in damp conditions and although been treated they reurn cause still damp). My son also has severe asthma and pneumonia twice, the hospital has wrote a letter saying the damp will make his conditions worse. Sorry to be negative, but my landlord doesnt care the council doesnt care nor does housing standards. I lived here for 3 yrs cant move because wont give me enough points to move and almost every landlord wont take housing benefit so im struck. Rant over

Oh we know where they're coming in - and we've complained about that before - we have a downstairs bathroom and they're coming in one of the corners. They probably quite like the damp in the bathroom, annh, so you might be right there! Might investigate the area around the washing machine too.

Well I shall keep writing to the landlord and see what happens.

We had slugs in the dining room of our previous house (which was rented). They were getting in somehow through the gap between the floor and skirting board.
Slug pellets worked wonders. Just sprinkle some around the area you know they're getting in and you'll find several dead slugs in the morning. It's not pleasant removing them but you'll solve the problem.
