Moving to Cirencester/Cheltenham/Gloucester

Hello 👋

We are looking at relocating with the intention of putting our young children into Rendcomb College.

We currently live in Derby and the move is based solely on the right school and we really want to live as close to it as possible.

We would also like a 4 bed detached with a lot of privacy and a large garden and can’t go over £600k which also rules out anywhere within 15 mins of Rendcomb!

Except for Woodmancote. Any opinions on this village and why it’s so comparatively cheap?

Where else might we look for a suitable house within our budget that has easy access to Rendcomb and is a nice area to live? Not snobby but not rough.

Thanks

Cirencester is an old person's town.
Nothing for the kids and massively over priced.
Yes I grew up there, cant afford to live there on my average wage.

@LouLouLouL I'm trying to work out how to PM you...

If you are nouveau riche trying to be landed gentry, you'll love it...otherwise I would say stay away..

LouLouLouL · 10/05/2020 17:34

Stay away from where?

Hi, why don't you try Stroud way. Michinhampton, Nailsworth etc. For a detached house in Cheltenham you would need to look on the outskirts, perhaps Charlton Kings

Dinosauraddict · 11/05/2020 06:47

I would go outskirts of Chelt too. Avoid Gloucester like the plague. Most of it is rough and a bit grubby imo.

MaMaLa321 · 11/05/2020 08:40

...and I'd go for Gloucester. Our son lives there, and there are lots of nice bits.

catndogslife · 11/05/2020 18:24

Except for Woodmancote
There's more than one village called this in Gloucestershire so need more info on which one.
Do you mean the one near Cheltenham or somewhere else?

romatheroamer · 12/05/2020 06:47

OP means Woodmancote near Rendcomb/Cirencester
