I'm getting some 10 foot bi fold doors put in my quite small house. Has anyone got any tips about what I need to look out for?
TIA

Do you want option to just open 1 door as well as slide the lot?

What colour/different out and in it same?

What will they connect with outside? Directly with patio or decking with inset runners or with a step out

I love ours!

Integrated blinds maybe?

areallthenamesusedup · 05/05/2020 20:24

Which way will they stack....inside v outside
Do you want them stacking 50 v 50 or 75 v 25 etc
Apparently metal frames more robust than pvc
Is there room to stack?

Check your lintel is strong enough to take the opening of the bi-folds!

BrandNewHair · 05/05/2020 21:13

OK, I know need a lintel so check!
I'm going for dark grey in and out as i like that Schiouc
I will have three doors but all folding to the outside

Same colour handles? Or brushed chrome/steel
Hinges ?

Never had the big problems?

Ours were wooden. Beautiful but they were so heavy I couldn’t open or shut them by myself. Which was annoying.

imausernamenotanumber · 05/05/2020 21:23

*bug problem. I’m intrigued about this? Is it worth than with, say, standard patio doors or French doors?

Friendsofmine · 05/05/2020 21:26

How it will seal to the floor tiles and the rubber/plastic/fibre etc willcope with seasonal expansion and contraction. Ask for contact details of people who had the same ones installed at least 12 months ago.

Hiddentree122 · 05/05/2020 21:32

All your stuff getting blown about inside.

areallthenamesusedup · 05/05/2020 21:47

oh and the lip....in the floor...recessed...sticking up?

Qc16 · 05/05/2020 21:51

Why should things get blown about inside?

We’ve had Sunflex bifold doors for 10 years and can recommend them. Extremely easy to operate as they slide easily. And unless you live somewhere where there are lots of bugs then you won’t get any more bugs in the house - no more than if you have windows open!

Definitely consider integrated blinds, I’m so glad we got them
