Hampton Hill or East Molesey?

Hi, we’re considering a move to Hampton Hill and the house we’re looking at us a 10/15 minute walk away from Hampton station and the nursery. We have twin boys so I’m thinking a quick drive might be easier than a 15 minute walk in the morning. I’ve been told there’s free parking at Hampton station but I’m wondering if the drive will be a bit of a nightmare in the morning with lots of people trying to get to the station, schools etc? Does anyone have any experience of this or live in the area? We’re trying to decide between Hampton Hill and East Molesey so any thoughts would be great! Thanks so much!

Are you commuting in to town from Hampton station. A good friend recently moved from Hampton to another area because the service was so unreliable. Having said that HH is a very nice area as is Hampton. Good luck

I’ve lived in both and they are both great but my vote would be for Hampton Hill. Not sure where the house is but there’s also Fulwell station ( although just seen Nursery drop off to factor in too)
Transport options probably better from Hampton Hill with bus to Teddington or Twickenham stations also an option.
Traffic is worse going the other direction up Hampton Hill High St in the mornings ( away from Hampton) so don’t think would be bad depending on where you’re coming from?
Schools are good, especially in HH. Both areas have lots of good shops, cafes etc. Both close to Bushy Park. Personally think HH just feels better connected to surrounding areas , plus has beautiful Hampton Open Air Pool.
Good Luck!

Thank you! We will be commuting into town from Hampton station so it’s good to know that the train service isn’t great. I guess another thing to think about!

The other thing to be aware of is that Hampton Hill is London borough of Richmond upon Thames, East Molesy is Surrey.

So with Richmond upon Thames you get free london travel for under 18s and over 60s. Different LEAs for schools etc.

With East Molesey you have bottle necks in crossing the Thames.

Thank you so much! I suppose we just need to decide which area we prefer but it’s a bit of a tricky one! It seems that Hampton Hill has better schools but maybe you get a bit more house for your money in East Molesey?

The house in Hampton is in the Ormonds so I’m hoping that would be convenient for the station, nursery and in the future schools. Not too sure if that’s right?! Thanks again for all the local insight!
