Has anyone bought their council house?

I am just wondering how long it took from putting in your first form to actually completing the purchase.

I am about to start acting for people who want to do this and I would be grateful of any information or advice.

My neighbour recently bought her house, from a housing association, it took 8 months from start to finish. I've heard that the council are faster at processing their applications though.
