Those who know saltash please

Thinking of moving back down to Devon/Cornwall area and have been focusing on Ivybridge so far but Saltash looks possible as good house prcies and close to Plymouth.
How is it to live? WHat sort of place? How are the schools - primary and secondary? How about a mixed race family?
