Anyone buying a new house?

We are waiting to have an offer accepted (hopefully tomorrow) on a new house.
Ive only ever had doer uppers before and have extended, knocked walls down etc but my husband doesn't want to do another project and we've found an amazing new house, but im a bit worried i won't love it as much without spending blood and tears ;)
Also,im looking at all my old things (e.g. tea towels etc) and thinking they are worthy of my shiny new house - is this normal?

anyhow, im super excited and it's gorgeous!

Anyone else buying new?

We moved into a new build last March, having previously lived in an older house that we had renovated. I threw nearly everything away so we could have brand new. The only things we took were TVs, Fridge freezer, washer and dryer, Speaking to neighbours it seems normal as they all did the same. Like you I wanted it all sparkly and new and it was worth it.

Awaiting completion of our new build and we've been doing the same. Over the last couple of months since reserving, we've been getting all new household items ready for the big move.

Karcheer · 29/01/2020 11:36

The house is now reserved for us!
We are buying the show home so have the option to buy some of the furniture. But will start looking for all the little new things...

@Scholesfan when are you hoping to move in?

@Karcheer All going well within the next 3 weeks hopefully!

We've just had all flooring layed and going to the house tomorrow to sign off that we're happy with it.

We are in the middle of a mortgage application for our second big project. This is a long term home for me I think, and the last project I think I’d want to do. I tried to force myself to love “done” houses this time but I just couldn’t, must be a glutton for punishment 😂

Instagrrr · 29/01/2020 20:37

I’d love one, sadly husband does not

caffeinefix · 29/01/2020 21:02

Moved just before Christmas into our second new build. We love it!

Uncooperativefingers · 29/01/2020 22:09

We were, until we saw the contract and realised it was fleecehold Sad

Uncapped estate management fees and a restriction placed on our house so we couldn't sell without the express permission of the estate management company! And this was on a house sold as freehold. So we pulled out.

Hope you have more luck OP!

We pick up our keys on Friday, I can't wait! The house we are moving to is a completely different size to where we are now so all my little furniture is going to look ridiculous. We're going to be changing it as we move in but fairly quickly

DavinaAddict · 02/02/2020 09:53

We are waiting to exchange on ours! Hopefully May will be our moving in date. We haven’t bought new anything really, as we are squeezing ourselves budget wise, and putting in loads of extras. But the house will be amazing once it’s built so we’re happy doing it over time as we can afford to. Smile

Is anyone having anything other than a mortgage survey on the new house? Does the Nhbc thing negate a need?

OP posts:
Karcheer · 04/02/2020 16:30

Apparently still need a survey so will go for the middle one I guess.

OP posts:
Movingissues · 04/02/2020 17:57

We’ve not been told we need a survey so just had the mortgage valuation done.

Karcheer · 04/02/2020 19:37

@Movingissues further research says we don’t need one!

OP posts:
Movingissues · 04/02/2020 19:43

Awesome! Saves us a job then Grin

caffeinefix · 05/02/2020 20:41

Yes we just had the valuation one
