We want to save money and ideally not rent another property when we extend and renovate. Does anyone know if it’s possible to rent a caravan and keep it in the garden during works?

if your looking at a while sometimes its cheaper to buy an older one and then sell it on afterwards than renting one, you would have to ask your local council if there are any limits on keeping a caravan on your property as a temporary measure

But an older one then sell on once back in the house. Sometimes with these things it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, especially if the works will only take a few months.

Yes its possible but it depending on the council rules and you will probably have to council tax on the caravan after a year if its a static caravan . if it small towable caravan it shouldn't be liable for Council tax . you can get in with more the and finish the work quicker if your not in the house and make life more bearable . some companies will buy them back . transport costs are quite high so it worth trying to find a local supplier or one off a local site .
