Waiting to exchange.... please hold my hand!

Wont bore you with every little detail but dear god, I think these buyers are trying to kill us. Been trying to exchange since mid December. Every bloody week theres something. They go off grid for days at a time and estate agent says they cant get hold of them. They dictated exchange date to us, then changed it more than once. We have knocked a hell of a lot of money off the agreed sale price for reasons too long and boring to go into. We agreed to a 'final viewing' that they demanded last week. I feel like we are their little puppets at this point

Its like being stuck on the edge of a cliff for weeks on end. I would love with all my heart to tell them to go forth and multiply but for loads of reasons, that is not an option. We just have to take it. And if one more person tells me it will be ok and stay positive, I will actually kill them. PLEASE offer a handhold if you have experience of similar. Thanks!

Hand hold here - buying and selling is very stressful, particularly getting close to exchange. All you can do is make sure that your side is ready to go and speak to estate agents and solicitors to get the exchange done asap. You dont mention if you are buying another property or not? The longer the chain the more likely these delays happen. Hope it happens very soon.

Thank you so much for the hand hold. We're in England, and the system is just so ridiculous. Yes we are buying as well, but have had to break the chain and exchange separately on purchase and sale. This is because of lots of fucking about on the part of both buyers and vendors. Absolutely sick to death of the whole lot of them

That sounds really dreadful - sounds like you might be going into rental? At least by breaking the chain that should help a bit - all the best.

We are still very hopeful that we can all complete on same day, so no rental. Really dont want even more upset and instability! We will see.... thanks so much for replying x

I’ll join for a hand hold! Totally different experience but I feel you’re pain of the wrong around on somebody else’s decision.

We were supposed to be exchanging last week but for various issues didn’t, and now it looks like we may end up pulling out over a piece of land on the estate that is right next to the property (new build). We’re now in that awful limbo of waiting to see what they decide, as to whether we go ahead or not. Which is frustrating, as whilst we’ve no rush to move, we absolutely adore the house and are all ready to go ahead, except this final sticking point. Plus we’re part exchanging ours, so we’ll have to start from scratch if this all falls through
