Help please my first new kitchen and I am so distressed

I am so upset I've barely slept for days. I spent almost 10k on a kitchen and now it's being fitted. I've attached pics please tell me this isn't normal and what I can do?
The worktops have been cut with the raw edges showing, there are small chips on the apparently unchippable doors, the upstand isn't flush

I should mention it's been 9 days of living hell. Still not done.

Speak to the fitters and don't pay them until you're satisfied. Where did you buy your kitchen from?

TreesSandSea · 23/11/2019 08:34

First, calm down. Second, you need to stop the fitter and explain your concerns. Take pics and then call the company. Who did you buy from?

twoheaped · 23/11/2019 08:35

Are they still fitting it?
If they are, they might be getting round to those things.

I can't make out what the first picture is. The 2nd picture just needs edging strip applied, not a problem unless everything has already been secured in.

oohnicevase · 23/11/2019 08:35

The counter shouldn't be like that for sure and if the cupboards are chipped get them to replace them .. who is fitting it / supplied it? Don't pay yet !!

TreesRUs · 23/11/2019 08:37

Take some big deep breaths. It can be really stressful living in a building site and having spent so much money on something.

  • make a list of all the problems
  • calmly and politely explain them to whoever is doing the work
  • don’t pay until they are sorted

It WILL be okay Flowers

Yoohoo16 · 23/11/2019 08:39

Hard to see what’s going on from your pictures but the worktop just needs the edging strip applied.
The doors I would be complaining about to whoever you’ve ordered from and I’d be asking the fitters why the up stand isn’t flush. Does it just need a bit of caulk to finish it off?

Soontobe60 · 23/11/2019 08:42

You've posted twice about this in the same forum!

Julshk73 · 23/11/2019 08:47

Hi 👋🏻 thank you. The kitchen is Wrens Infinity Plus. I'm using local fitters, most highly rated in the city too. Wren wanted over 10k in installation costs - their installer was a real piece of work. I believe the worktop is fitted in already and can't see how they will edge that and the up stands now but I will ask. I guess I don't understand why they didn't use the four sealed edges for the two bits of worktop that show ends.

Its been hard going, not helped by my husband leaving me and the country. I'm questioning myself and my judgement but it looks like 💩 and I just want it over after two weeks (estimate was one week it's a little kitchen)

Nine days is nothing. Laminate worktops have edging strips for the cut ends but they'll be fitted last. Your supplier should replace chipped doors under warranty. Renovations are always hellish and always seem full of errors; your fitters should do snagging with you – going around at the end listing minor amends and touch-ups you require.

oohnicevase · 23/11/2019 10:06

They may just stick a finishing edge on the worktop.. can you ask them ?

Nine days is absolutely nothing, we are 8 weeks in and still not done!

Stop the fitters now and list all your concerns..

Northernlurker · 23/11/2019 10:33

Our small kitchen took five days. End of day three I had a snagging list I left with dh to discuss as I was at work. Everything was already in fitters plans and was resolved. They are not planning to leave worktop like that.you may need to get touch re chips though.

Pinkflipflop85 · 23/11/2019 11:21

Before I read your second post I knew it would be a wren kitchen!

Frazzled2207 · 23/11/2019 12:12

We are in the midst of new kitchen too. Two weeks in (not a large kitchen). Our worktop edges aren't done either although they have been specific that it will be done. Can't make out what the first pic is.

Frazzled2207 · 23/11/2019 12:13

ps don't pay them until they have fixed everything

Julshk73 · 23/11/2019 16:00

almost finished and those things that were giving me nightmares are all fixed bar two little niggles. the units - well Wren ain't replacing them now as they're well and truly fitted but I do expect them to do something about the chips perhaps there's touch up of something that can be done. Anyway the only nightmare now is the week of moving and cleaning ahead! Thank you all 🤗
