We are redoing our kitchen and I'm wondering what Ikea kitchens are like in terms of ease of installation and durability. Please share your experience.

They’re very easy to assemble and come with instructions. I’ve had them put into several properties and have found them good value for money and durable.

My in-laws have just put in an Ikea kitchen . It's the black/grey one . Looks lovely. They used OnePlan from Houzz to design it as they didn't like to try and do it themselves.

Ours is now 6 years old and looks as good as the day it was put in. We used their installation service - they use contractors who, round our way, also do fitting for John Lewis.

We couldn’t find any other company that had the same range of units - you can have almost any combination of drawers/shelves/widths you can think of, and I liked their transparent pricing structure. Got fed up with the constant hard sell/30%off if you buy today from other places.

We did use our own appliances though. We had to use their dishwasher because it was built in; this was eventually replaced under warranty because it broke down so often but by that time they had a kit for any built in dishwasher to use their drawers, so we replaced it with a Siemens.

We’ve had ours two years now and it’s looking great. Would use again.

I got an Ikea kitchen installed in June this year.

I'll start by saying I am totally in love with my kitchen - looks great, everything works as it should, was half the price of other places...

BUT

Installation crew were a nightmare. Stole from DP's toolbox, threw tea and boxes and dust all over our freshly painted decking, plumbed the hot and cold taps the wrong way round, plumbed the waste pipe in wrong so the kitchen flooded then went AWOL with door key for 3 days.

I would get an Ikea kitchen again but would get a local installer OR bite the bullet and do it myself.
