Lease enquiries - how long?

Has anyone sold or bought a flat, which is managed by a council? And if so, any idea how long they took to deal with enquiries?

We're right at the very end of the process of selling our flat. Our purchase is all ready. The only thing we're waiting for is some enquires the buyers solicitor have raised about the lease.

The council is Newham, who are renowned for being really slow! They did say last week they are dealing with it, but no idea how long this might take.

If anyone's done similar, can you let me know how quickly you got a response? So I can gage how long it usually takes...

Thanks!!

Councils can be slow unfortunately. It is difficult to predict how long it will take without knowing if the enquiries are fairly standard or not. One of the problems is that they often answer some enquiries but not others and so the solicitor has to repeat the enquiries again. As a guide, I would say the average leasehold property takes around 4 months from receipt of draft contracts.

Thanks spickle. The enquires are just about the accounts and a fire report. So they seem quite straight forward, but I have no idea.

I guess I'll just have to try to not obsess over it and just wait. It's so infuriating!!
