Vendors didn't get planning for new roof...

Vendors got new roof in conservation area and didn't get planning. Just found out when a week away from exchange. Anyone any experience of this. I suppose worst case is they'll have to go for retrospective...

How long ago? There's a time limit for the council could do anything.

A year ago. They say they rang the Council and asked and were told they didn't need planning. Unfortunately no written record of this (though it wouldn't surprise me).

They've alerted the Council so we can't do it by an indemnity.

Was it like for like repair/replacement? They may not have needed planning for that.

It's very similar. Unusual roof tiles and they've gone for a very close match to the original. It's not hugely noticeable they are different from the ones next door, apart from looking new!
