Can’t find anything to buy. Should we settle?

Moved back to the uk 6 months ago and have been living in rented while looking for somewhere to buy. Took us a while to clarify to ourselves what we wanted (new area) but now we know we just can’t find the right place. Feeling despondent & keen to move - currently a bit squeezed In a grotty 3 bed when we really want more space & a working shower. There are houses available that would be fine - should we settle for that, or keep hanging on for Brexit/January & hope some more properties come on the market?

should say that what we want is realistic in our budget, just not on the market at the moments! Eg saw a lovely house 300m out of catchment which means no school bus, another possibly house that needs far too much work, and so on and so on.

We have, but I'm regretting it a bit. We haven't moved in yet - offer went in four weeks ago but they've revealed this week that they don't want to move before January as their fixed rate expires then.... I'm regretting going for it, it's nice but not perfect and the new houses will be appearing on the market by the time we can move in!

I've got the same dilemma and started an identical thread a week ago. Need more Wine to get through this. A crystal ball would come in useful too.

We're in a similar position and hanging on until Jan. Our thinking is that we're probably not going to be in a position to buy from rented (ideally) again and don't want to squander being in such a good position on a less ideal house. Especially when we know we can afford what we want, it's just not on the market atm.

And if we do get a deal this week, we might get a few weeks of properties coming on the market before Christmas sets in...

We're in exactly the same boat. We've got an offer on our house but just can't find anything that we really love, and I'm worried that if we compromise and go for an ok house the perfect one will appear after Christmas/Brexit.
