Fix or buy a new dishwasher?

Is @pigletjohn still frequenting these boards? Or maybe it was @pigletjon...

My dishwasher is broken. The last few times I've used it, it just beeps and stops and the water doesn't drain. When it's happened I've manually cleared the standing water, checked the filter (cleaned it) and checked the salt and rinse aid etc. Then it happens again.

Hose thing looks alright.

What's likely to be up with it? Is it worth fixing or should I just get a new one?

This is bad timing. My washing machine broke then my car, now this and my kitchen hob extractor fan. I'm a bit cheesed off. And skint

perhaps it has a leak. Unplug it. Pull it out. Tilt it over backwards a bit. Does water run onto the floor (mop it up)

how old is it, and what make?

I had a repair man come out for £25 to look at mine with a view to hopefully repairing it but he said the part and labour would cost more than a new dishwasher.
So I say new one!

Does it keep trying to run the cycle for hours even though nothing happens?

FFSnotanotherone · 14/10/2019 23:27

Thanks Piglet I'll try but it's integrated... May have to get someone to help!

And it doesn't try and run it for hours. When there's standing water in there it does nothing then beeps like crazy.
When I cleared the water out it started a cycle then just stopped, I presume when the water stopped leaving the machine.

I'd advise against an integrated next time.

You now know why....

Ugh. Open plan living/kitchen though. Looks so much nicer

if you insist, you can get a semi, if you can find one that will accept a decor panel and can be slid out for maintenance.

Good tip thank you for your help :-)

could be drainage pump isn't draining due to debris or olive pits stuck in the rotating fan.

two option

  1. take the outlet pipe, give it a good blow to push the water toward the machine by unblocking it.(brave option)
  2. manually open it and clear the debris from the pump

Sounds like a pump or drain issue if it's not a leak. Any trouble with any other drain/sink nearby, or downstairs toilet? If you look where the drain hose goes eg under the sink, what can you see?
