Anyone live/lived in Knottingley?

Is it on the whole a decent enough place to live or would you avoid? I've seen a house I like the look of, we had a drive around on Saturday and first impressions were the area seemed pretty decent. Had a google and most of the opinions seem to be it's rough and not very welcoming to outsiders.

Parts of Knottingley are horrendous. I policed the area and would NEVER live there. Better areas close by in Pontefract or Castleford.

Depends on what your comparing it to and your budget. My daughter just moving from there as she didn't want to bring her family up there. But when she was first buying it was all she could afford. What is your budget and what are you looking for.

We're happy enough where we are currently (just outside Rothwell) and in no rush to move. Our goal is to eventually buy a 3 - 4 bed detatched house/bungalow, with a decent amount of land (likely 1/4 of an acre plus) and preferably not overlooked by other houses. We've only really started looking at what's on the market as houses similar to our's in the immediate area are selling quickly and indicate we could potentially make a small profit on what we paid for ours. Our budget if we were to buy now would be around £350k.

We've mostly been looking at the pit villages around Rothwell and out towards North Yorkshire, Micklefield, Monk Fryston etc. I really like the quiet rural feel of Micklefield, but also having a train station is a bonus. We've always thought Wakefield feels a bit run down overall (although I am sure there are plenty of nice areas). DP's mum sent a link to the Knottingley house and my initial reaction was dream house, shame about the location. Although I'd never actually visited the place it was the proximity to Wakefield which put me off. Thanks for the replies, it sounds like an area we'd want to avoid moving to.

Don't think you will want Knottingley, there are loads ogf nice villages around, monk Fryston is lovely, there are some lovely villages around selby.

Agree with @Kaz2200. Knottingley is awful. Best look further out as mentioned towards Selby including Monk Fryston
