Help! - Comfort Height for Toilet

I'm not sure if I am imagining problems which don't actually exist.

The new toilet my husband plans to put in place has a height of 40cm from floor to toilet rim. I didn't notice until today I found a toilet I used in a shop is distinctly low. I happen to have a mini tape measure in my handbag and found it's about 40cm height.

From then I researched all close coupled toilet from Duravit and Crosswater. None their "short projection" range provides higher seating position, like 43-45cm.

My husband doesn't seem to mind and admits because he just doesn't spend much time sitting down, unlike the ladies!

Can anyone suggest if any reliable brand has shorter projection and closed coupled models offer higher seating position?

Does wall hung models allow you build it to the height you want? If yes, how much more expensive are the wall hung models comparing with normal floor mounted?

Would be grateful to have some comments...

I'd be interested too. We've just moved into a flat and when I hurt my back I realised rhar both toilets were pretty low. We are planning to replace them (currently both are wall hung).

Can a wall hung toilet be put at any height?

Generally toilet bowls (height to the rim, not the seat) are around 16"/40cm. The addition of the toilet seat (depending on style) brings it to approx 17"/43cm.
I've noticed this in my line of work over the years. Things are changing however.

Nowadays you can get toilets of all heights, including wall mounted that you can fit to your chosen height.

Sit down with your knees bent at 90° and measure the distance between your heel and the back of your knee. If you don't have any mobility problems, that's likely to be your optimum toilet seat height. Too high and it may be harder to open your bowels. Lower than this- easier to open your bowels, but harder to stand up from!

We fitted a Duravit wall hung toilet and to the rim it is 43cm but we chose this height as we are both tall.

The GC use a step here but at home they have no need.

Take into account how tall you are (measure the height of friends and relatives toilets).

I believe wall hung is more expensive but it gives the flexibility of choice.
