Just want to Moan

Very thankful that our new extension is up and water tight (so probably the worst of the mess is behind us) but we are currently undergoing the epic task of painting out the extension ourselves. Don't get me wrong we are progressing but it feels as if I have been holding a roller in my hand for months not weeks. I am sick of the sight of white paint and then stumbling upon a wall that has not been plastered very well so needs filling/sanding. I am tired of chasing the different trades when they seem to be more interested in dashing off to their next job and also co-ordinating them. I am tired of living in a dark makeshift kitchen with a toddler roaming around and also dh and I trying to juggle said toddler between us whilst the above is proceeding. The builders were good at getting the shell up but their finish as not been the best so we have unravelled some stuff ourselves. Just feeling tired I think. Hoping to have at least the kitchen part completed by the end of September which in the grand scheme of things is not that far away, just feeling overwhelmed - washing needs sorting, meals need cooking etc. looking forward to getting the job done and getting around to doing other things.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

Goin* to start in 6 months, the more I read here the more I wonder about it....can you get a break, even for a night?

Could you get someone in to finish the painting, do the cleaning, etc? What about taking laundry to a launderette for a service wash just to give yourself a break. Get out of the house and do something different for a day or so.

I want to moan too. We’re 7 weeks into what was meant to be a 9week refurb but are running 3 weeks behind schedule.

Living with MIL (which is really tense) and facing moving back into a building site at the end of August as I cannot do the school run from MIL’s.

I think having dcs particularly young dcs thrown into the mix is really tricky and its all the things surrounding it - my middle dc has a birthday in October for instance and always makes a big deal about it, sorting school uniform x2 out for school, the list goes on really. We did have a holiday a few weeks ago and it was good to get away - that break sadly seems to be wearing off now. I am easily overwhelmed and we have no extended family to chip in and help out, pressure all round (luckily dh is able to tolerate stress and works hard.) It isn't just the painting it's everything surrounding it - we didn't employ a project manager/architect, me and dh are capable of this and that on its own wouldn't be a problem. Estimated finish date (for main kitchen) is 4 weeks and it will be worth it but getting there has been hard.
