Help me choose a facade colour (pictures attached!)

After two years of renovations, extensions, garden landscaping .... house finally near completion. So sick of the tatty exterior but we cannot decide what colour to paint the tiles between upstairs & downstairs windows & triangular bits at the top, here's the choice. What would you choose ?
The front door is teal.

Don't paint the tiles it will look awful. Both those colours are too dark for gloomy England. Sorry, very unhelpful, I realise..

lookhappy · 18/07/2019 16:25

I registered to mumsnet purely to answer your question. DO NOT PAINT THE TILES. Ditto wot Hullygully said. Plus, you'll be destroying the entire original look of your house, which is what MAKES your house special. Heritage person writing.

Leggyfrog · 18/07/2019 16:27

I would leave the tiles - you will forever be repainting otherwise- and repaint the soffits white as your neighbours have done - boring but clean looking.

Paintmyhouse · 18/07/2019 16:27

Thanks so much - would you stick to the original colours and just refresh ?

OP posts:
lookhappy · 18/07/2019 16:28

Yes, just refresh!

RockinHippy · 18/07/2019 16:29

Painted tiles look cheap & nasty & like you don't have a clue what you are doing. Don't paint the tiles, but clean them up/renovate them

lookhappy · 18/07/2019 16:29

Door is lovely btw.

lookhappy · 18/07/2019 16:30

What Rockin said. Painting the tiles is a truly awful idea.

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 18/07/2019 16:31

Noooo do not paint tiles, it would look awful. I would paint the top triangle boards white and paint the front door a lighter colour as it's very dark, but that's only a personal preference

Oddbutnotodd · 18/07/2019 16:32

Agree don’t paint the tiles. I would paint the render and soffits in a similar colour to your neighbours.

Paintmyhouse · 18/07/2019 16:33

I love my front door so that's staying teal 😊

PickAChew · 18/07/2019 16:33

Goodness, no, don't paint the tiles!

thinkingcapon · 18/07/2019 16:40

Another one for please keep your rosemary tiles!

PickAChew · 18/07/2019 16:53

The front door is pretty - but more cornflower blue than teal, on my screen!

Padiana · 18/07/2019 17:06

Utter madness to paint the tiles! Don't do it!

onedayiwillmissthis · 18/07/2019 17:10

ShockPaint the tiles! Nooooo

floppybit · 18/07/2019 17:26

Don't paint those tiles!!!!!
Front door colour is beautiful. Just need to freshen up the white paint, that's all

Cotswoldmama · 18/07/2019 17:30

The tiles look perfect I wouldn't even refresh them!

RockinHippy · 18/07/2019 17:39

I love your front door too. I wanted that colour for the front of our house as were in an area for coloured fascia, but DH vetoed it 😏

mathanxiety · 19/07/2019 05:52

Good Lord, don't paint the tiles Shock
You could have them cleaned, but painting them would ruin the character of the house.

The white fascia needs painting.

Also, is it just my screen or are there two different colours of blue for your front door and the wood panels on either side? Close but not quite the same colour?

PolarBearOnARaft · 19/07/2019 06:02

You could paint the pebbledash cream when you refresh the rest.

Neet90 · 19/07/2019 06:23

I agree, please do not paint the tiles, they look much nicer as they are. I think the real paint is cute but don't know if the black or refreshing the current white might be nicer or age better.

OliviaBenson · 19/07/2019 07:22

Also came on to say don't paint the tiles (or cancel the cheque Wink)

The exterior isn't tatty at all, the windows and barge boards just need a lick of paint.
