How do I check my deeds?

Next door neighbours have been improving their home for the last 3 years.

One of the jobs they have started, but not finished, has involved digging up the passage between the houses that leads to the doors to the gardens.

It's really getting me down that they haven't finished it because it means that our dustbins are sitting in our front garden rather than in the passage.

I'm convinced that when we bought our house that the deeds said that we actually own this part of the property - but next door obviously have to have access to it so that they can get into their garden.

I need to check that this is the case before I go and have a chat with them. But where are the deeds, and how can I get to see them?

You can download them for England and Waleshere for a small fee or you should have a copy among the solicitor's papers for your purchase. Ours sounds similar , neighbours have a right of way over a specific width path to the side of our house, although we own the land itself.

Thanks!

No solicitors' papers at all - and can't even remember who our solicitors were! We bought the house in 1988 so my memory is a little hazy.
