Garden tiles- what do I need to know?

I have had enough of the grass!!! I'm sick of it needing cutting, then being walked everywhere! It's full of ants and yucky bugs and I've had enough!

We need some work done in the garden anyway, so I'm thinking we might have the lawn taken up and replaced with tiles. I'd still keep the flowers etc, so as to keep the bees and butterflies, but I cannot cope with the lawn any longer!

Anyone have garden tiles? Anything I should know? Are the slippery? Do they get really hot?

What do you mean by garden tiles? Patio?

Ok so yes patio but porcelain. I looked at it when we had our garden done but with two small kids a) I was worried about them falling over and b) I was worried about them cracking if anything was dropped on them. We went for sawn sandstone in the end.

I hadn't thought about cracking, so thank you. How do you find yours? Is it slippery?

DS2 (3yrs old) fell over quite spectacularly yesterday on the patio after running across it wet. Smile But it’s been fine when walked on.

I do love the look of the porcelain but it was £££ and I was just so worried we’d ruin it.

That's my worry too!

Have you got rid of your grass completely? DH is reluctant to but I absolutely hate it!

No, we have a strip in the middle for the kids to play. It is a nice rectangle so while it still need cutting, it’s simple to do.
