How much would you expect to pay for a removal van and a couple of blokes?

We have a 3bed house and are moving about 3 miles.

I've been searching for quotes and it looks like about £550 - seems a lot to me.

How many stairs are involved?

We're moving from 2 bed flat on 2nd floor to 3 bed bungalow, 80 miles and a ferry crossing away.

Quotes around £800-£1000. Sounds about right to me.

Shit expat, that's ahelluva lot for you. When do you move? i've seen hints about it on here..
Just 1 flight of stairs in each house for us.

can I ask how you went about searching for quotes?
Yellow pages?

LittleMinx · 22/09/2007 18:37

we paid £650 to move from a 1 bed top floor flat to a 3 bed house, 16 months ago. some companies quoted us £1200 though

yogimum · 22/09/2007 18:51

we paid £200, but we're in Dorset

yogimum · 22/09/2007 18:53

this was a month ago so very recently. I'd look in a local paper rarther than yellow pages.

Well, my friend recently got quoted 750 for a 50 mile move and this bloke was doing her a favour. DH hired a big ole van for 100.00 with a taillift and roped 2 mates in. She gave them 60.00 each but they wouldn't take it.

550, if they do the lot does sound cheap

hire a van

get mates

buy beer as presents

Again, two bed, 2nd floor flat to a 3 bed bungalow a slow 80 miles away - takes 2.5 hours in light traffic and travel on single carriageway for some of it: £650.

Had three major companies quote us £1200, though.
