Appliance cupboard / butler pantry

I’m hoping to have my small appliances (toaster, coffee machine, maybe kettle) hidden in my new kitchen and I really like the look of some of the units I see on Pinterest, but I’m struggling to find units.

Are there any kitchen suppliers that do units similar to attached picture?

(I know there’s appliance cupboards that can sit on top of base units, but I’m hoping for flush fronts, IYSWIM.)

I have never seen those pivot sliding doors from a standard kitchen supplier. Perhaps a good carpenter could find a way to incorporate them somehow, or else you would be looking at a bespoke kitchen. An alternative would be a tambour door or bi-fold doors.

Loch Anna kitchens do a butlers pantry, I'm hoping to get one for mine, it looks amazing.

womanaf · 04/06/2019 20:09

Will look at Loch Anna, thanks.

Tbh, I could live without the hiding doors, but I can’t even find a cupboard with standard doors that would work. (Ie shallow shelves at top).

Isn't it a fire hazard to have a toaster in a cupboard? I seen to remember the fire service saying toasters shouldn't be under cupboards due to the heat coming up from them

womanaf · 04/06/2019 20:20

dame, yes, you’re right - hence why you need to have shallow shelves above. You pull it forward to use (so it’s not under a shelf), and push it back when you’re done.

That said, toaster currently sits underneath a wall cupboard...

Masterclass kitchens do lovely ones.

Not quite what you are after (it seems to have 4 doors) but a decent fitter could adapt that to a pair of doors. The upper shelves seem to be full depth but again can be made shallow.
I'm hoping to have something similar in my new kitchen.

I've seen those pocket doors, and I agree it might be lochanna

Thanks bitch, there’s a masterclass showroom v close by so I’ve just requested a brochure.

where, that’s almost what I’m after but I’m spending so much money on it, I want it to be proper, not adapted to almost meet requirements, IYSWIM. 😀

We got a carpenter to make those pocket doors using hafele hinges. Leicht kitchens also include them.

Does the kettle not steam and warp the interior of the cupboard over time?

womanaf · 05/06/2019 00:19

In a proper, designed for this purpose, cupboard, it shouldn’t - not any more than a kettle would warp a wall cupboard - but it’s part of why I would want a purpose-designed pantry rather than making do with one that looks the part but that wasn’t designed for it.

What you are looking for is apparently a "breakfast pantry"

I saw some with roll up shutters. I'm trying to remember where. They're a great idea.

Otter46 · 05/06/2019 05:58

We’ve got a magnet kitchen. Three years on it looks like new despite my two preschoolers constantly bashing into it!
