Cost of installing new central heating system

I’m getting quotes together for replacing my current heating system (very old hasn’t been updated since the 1970s and radiators are even older).

I’m surprised how much the quote costs vary, to replace the boiler, radiators, pipes and add a mega flow I’ve had quotes ranging from £6,000 to £13,000. British Gas came in the middle and quoted about £9,000 (although didn’t include megaflow system).

Does it really cost this much and should I be worried at a quote coming in at £6,000? (We are based in Kent). I know quotes differ in areas but keen to hear how much people paid to have their central heating system updated. Thanks!

We did this as part of a renovation and it cost us £8500 for a large ish three bed semi. That didn’t include fitting all the radiators as we weren’t ready to do that in most of the rooms. It did include the boiler and mega flow and also installation of the manifold for the underfloor heating in our kitchen but not installing the underfloor heating itself.

That was a mid range quote...
