Advice on buying a new cooker please

I'm looking for an electric freestanding cooker with either induction or ceramic hob. Having looked at loads of reviews online it's clearly a minefield out there.

I'm probably going to have a new kitchen fitted in a couple of years time but need to buy a new cooker now so a stand alone one would be better.

Any recommendations on particular brands please? Are induction hobs really worth the extra money? Are double ovens really useful? TIA :)

Ime double ovens are better than one - I hate the inflexibility of the grill being in the main oven and not being able to cook different things at different temperatures at the same time. But it depends what kind of cooking you do. We have an induction hob and it's brilliant. Highly recommended as fast, responsive, controllable and easy to keep clean.

I have always found Cannon to be excellent freestanding cookers but they are mostly gas. IIRC Hotpoint are part of the same company, I'd look for a Hotpoint induction double oven. If that's over budget look secondhand, not much to go wrong with cookers and they are easy to deep clean. People often sell nearly new ones if they are re doing a kitchen.

Ps induction hob and double oven are both definitely worth it!

Definitely induction rather than ceramic hob....it is a world of difference in how easy it is to control.

We bought an AEG freestanding cooker - Double oven with induction hob approx 5 years ago ( renting at the time so wanted something we could keep). It’s absolutely fantastic - recently bought a new house and put in a new kitchen and kept the same cooker . It wasn’t cheap though about £900 from memory.

Thank you. Looks like induction hobs win the vote :)

AEG double oven, induction hob here,
I have had loads of cookers over the years due to moving loads and I would not even entertain anything but a induction hob, clean, very quick and look good!

I had gas for years and loved it. I wouldn't trade induction for gas now.
