Wine fridges.. are they cold enough?

Hello,

I'm planning a new kitchen and am thinking of including a wine cooler fridge. I'm finding that the lowest temperature they go down to is 5 degrees. Is this cold enough for white wine? What I mean is, I understand that it's cool enough to store the wine, but is this cool enough to take the wine out and drink it? I thought 'normal' fridges were a bit colder than this? And I do like a nice refreshing cold glass of wine!

5C is a typical temperature inside a fridge (may vary by shelf)

I think it's plenty cold enough for wine.

It will probably not be cold enough for your taste, then. Domestic fridges chill wine too cold; wine fridges will chill it to the recommended temperature of approx 7 degrees.

It's plenty cold enough (unless you like your wine literally out of the freezer) - it's the same temperature as a normal fridge.

Technically white wine shouldn't be served as cold as that and won't be that temperature in restaurants and pubs etc so however you come at it I think you're fine. Go for it!

Excellent, I wasn't sure what temperature normally fridges are... ours has numbers but I don't they equate to temperature so I didn't know if 5 was a couple of degrees to warm. Thanks for help!

Champagne and dessert wines are typically served at 5 degrees, white wine is actually supposed to be served warmer at 8-12 degrees to get the optimum taste. 5 should be cold enough! Smile

The white wine from our wine fridge is just fine, propably about 5 degrees. We can turn it cooler if we wanted, but my h doesn't like his lager too cold.
It is lovely not to have bottles and cans taking up all the room in the fridge. We use it for all soft and alcoholic drinks (that need chilling) and bottled tap water. I love it.
