Accord Mortgages

Does anyone have any recent experiences using Accord for a mortgage? (I heard they used to be a nightmare but are quite flexible now).

We're first time buyers, 25% deposit and looking to borrow £77k. My other half has discovered a £120 default from just over 4 years ago. He's happy to pay this but we can't afford to wait 6 weeks for the credit file to update or we'll lose the flat we're buying. We were advised to wait if applying with Nationwide but have been told we can just go for it with Accord.

My credit is really good. My only potential downfall is that I didn't update the address on all of my accounts at the same time and some of them were only done 6 months ago. They might wonder why it wasn't done sooner.

Affordability should be fine as we're going to be paying £350-£400 less each month switching from renting to the recommended mortgage. We'll continue to save but not as much as we have been trying to get our deposit together so that'll save us another £200 per month.

So yeah, anyone else applied with them recently and had their application approved in spite of some adverse circumstances?

At least they're being thorough so it sounds promising! Fingers crossed for you. Let me know how it all goes. We'll probably not hear anything until the end of next week now. So far they've only asked for our most recent payslips.

Update:

So the AIP was a hard search and this was approved. They asked for 2 more payslips on Friday.

Today we had a text saying the valuation was booked for today. I read that in Scotland they don't necessarily go to the property but unsure if this is correct.

Hoping to hear more this week.

They sent out the surveyor to us v quickly and definitely came in the house and did a proper look about according to dh.

We spoke to the sellers last night and no one attended their property so they must be taking it from the home report.

Hoping to have a decision by the end of this week!

Honestly do yourself a favour and avoid accord mortgages.

Staff provide inaccurate advice, they are rude, obnoxious and very unhelpful.

Due to a miscommunication it resulted in mortgage arrears, they then refused to remove it from my account causing big issues with future lending and magically “call recordings didn’t contain mid advice all of a sudden”

Trust me, skip this provider and avoid. Try more reputable providers who know what they are doing.

Hope this helps

Honestly do yourself a favour and avoid accord mortgages.

Staff provide inaccurate advice, they are rude, obnoxious and very unhelpful.

Due to a miscommunication during a very challenging year 2020 it resulted in mortgage arrears being listed on my credit report. Accord then refused to remove it from my account causing big issues with lending and now all of a sudden when they were challenge on the matter “call recordings didn’t contain said conversations” ... very mysterious (predictable actually).

Trust me, skip this provider and avoid. Try more reputable providers who know what they are doing, who offer better advice and talk to you and treat you like a human.

Hope this helps everyone
