Can someone answer a few questions about showers?

I need to replace the shower hose and shower head on our shower. I have replaced the hose on a shower before and that was really easy - just unscrew the old one and screw the new one on.

The shower itself is fine, it's just that the head is leaking, and the hose could do with being replaced too.

Last time, I bought the same make hose as the shower and it fitted perfectly. Do all showers have the same connections? Do I have to buy the same brand or can I get a different one? I have the same question for the shower head too. The shower is a Mira, do I have to get a Mira shower head, or can I get a different one?

Also, does the water pressure come from the shower itself? Probably a stupid question, sorry. If I change the shower head, will the water pressure stay the same?

Can anyone recommend somewhere good online that I can buy a new hose and shower head?

Is PigletJohn there anywhere? Smile

I have come across old showers/hoses that didn't have a standard fitting, but all recent ones do.

have a look at plumbworld, I had a few from them that were good value. Rail, hose and handset.

Is it an electric shower? With a plastic box on the wall or something different? If a plastic box you can buy a new hose from Amazon. There are special heads that are supposed to increase the water pressure by sucking in air.

No, it’s not an electric shower. I think it is probably about fifteen years old.

The pressure is quite good at the moment, I don’t want to ruin that!

I will have a look at Plumbworld, thanks.
