No properties in the area to "do up"

Our dd is looking to buy her first flat/house. We live in an expensive area, and she needs to stay in that area for work reasons. She's a really DIY girl and her fiancé's family own's a joining company so to save money they want to buy a wreck to do up.

We've been looking with them for over a year now, and no properties have come up that need renovation! Yes there have been a few that need a bit of modernising, but they were only 10-20k cheaper.

About 10 years ago there were loads of properties in dire need of modernising. Have the middle classes bought them all and done them all up?! Shock Grin

look at house auctions like on houses under the hammer

Round here these sort of properties don't even get listed, they tend to go straight to property developers or are sold at auction.

Loads of people competing for the doer uppers drive the price up. There's no money in fixing up these days round here.
