That's it really. Did you have four weeks warning of the actual moving date? More? Less? Just trying to work out on average assuming all goes to plan.

12 TORTURE

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 21:25

Thanks Apu. I can't believe no one else round here remembers how long they had to prepare, but 12 weeks sounds such a nightmare I'm not sure I want to know any more! [yikes emoticon] I just hope it was all ok in the end.

i am due to complete next week!
have moved lots of times sometimes exchange and complete same day ...mostle 3-5 weeks hth

JemimaPip · 12/07/2007 21:27

'tis negotiable. I had simultaneous exchange and completion the first time (was first time buyer and no chain so took 6 weeks from start to finish) and just one week between exchange and completion last time I moved (both times I moved on Friday 13th!)

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 21:29

12 weeks.
Same day.
3 - 5 weeks.
One week.

Three out of four sound very scary. Tell me we can suggest something reasonable!

just under 2 weeks.

fingerwoman · 12/07/2007 21:32

I think it was about 4 weeks for us.

themoon66 · 12/07/2007 21:32

3 weeks

allgonebellyup · 12/07/2007 21:34

about 10 days

but exchanged and completed on same day

LoveAngel · 14/07/2007 13:06

We're about to exchange (next week all going well) but the completion date isn't for another 11 weeks, which we knew would be the case when we put in an offer. I'm quite pleased - got loads of time to sort stuff out!

NannyL · 15/07/2007 19:39

i got 4 days

littlerach · 15/07/2007 19:45

1 week officially, but we had a date in mind before that.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 15/07/2007 19:46

Less - once I had 3 days, the next time 2 weeks and the last time 6 days.

ChudleyMintonCanons · 15/07/2007 20:54

IIRC we had roughly agreed the date (or at least the week) a couple of weeks before exchange, then exchanged two weeks before completion.

MuffinMclay · 17/07/2007 17:23

When we sold, 6 days. When we bought again, 3.5 months (idiot seller changed his mind about completion date on the day we exchanged).

Bibis · 17/07/2007 17:27

Can't remember 1st time, think it was less than a week.

Second time was ok cos we were in rented so didn't affect us much, not long is probably as much as I can say on that one.

Next two times I think that it was 2 weeks each time.

Not sure I would like the very long waits, if you have exchanged you just want to get in don't you as you are committed to buying it anyway?

meandmyflyingmachine · 17/07/2007 17:29

WHat do you mean notice? We agreed a completion date on the day we exchanged - one week beofre. We all knew we were aiming for around then though, since the start of the proceedings.

lucykate · 17/07/2007 17:30

we had 3 days notice, chain was a nightmare, no-one would commit to dates until the last minute

golds · 17/07/2007 17:32

we all thought of the date a week in advance, but it was a very stressful purchase where noone would do anything. We eventually exchanged on the Thursday and moved Friday - talk about stress

fruitful · 17/07/2007 17:38

4 days. It was either 4 days or 6 weeks so we took a deep breath and opted for 4 days! Twas ok except for dd getting chicken pox on moving day.
