Dirty water stain on polished marble

Hi

Can anyone help? I've got a dirty water stain on brand new polished marble vanity. Think it's dust from mirror being installed above and mixed with water around sink which wasn't mopped up immediately.

I've tried method granite and marble cleaner and Waitrose marble cleaner which I had to hand.

It's not extremely noticeable but where it's brand new it's really bothering me. See pic.

Any ideas? Has anyone actually tried a baking soda paste?

Thanks

marble is absorbent limestone and trhe same material as limescale in a kettle, so many cleaners will dissolve the suface.

You might possibly float away some of the dirt by sponging it with warm water and half a drop of WUL, and mopping up the water with a clean towel. I think I've heard of people applying a poultice of moist oatmeal to draw the dirt to the surface.

Thanks Piglet John. Have just tried washing up liquid. Not sure if it did anything.

Someone on YouTube used a flour and water paste. Can't imagine it'll shift it but guess it's safe to try.

Had my mother round earlier suggesting bleach, cif, vinegar and my Dad suggested lemon. Guess they'd get rid of the stain when they dissolve the entire surface!!!
