Replacement electric oven and gas hob

We recently bought an old house and intended to rip out the old kitchen and start again. Unfortunately the money assigned to that has had to be spent on some unexpected damp-proofing and other maintenance issues and so we've decided to live with the kitchen for a year or two. The fitted single oven and gas hob must be more than 20 years old and need replacing.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheapish but reliable make and supplier? I'm overwhelmed by the choice. When we come to do the kitchen properly we'll splash out but for now I need something simple.

Just go for John Lewis's cheapest ones. Should be OK.

I've got a Stoves hob and electric oven, had no issues with either and they look ok too. I was tempted by the higher priced brands like Neff, but couldn't justify the extra cost for functions that I wouldn't even use.

Thanks. We just need something tidy and reliable for the next 2-3 years, then we'll be going for a Neff or whatever. There seem to be some really cheap options available but I've never heard of the make or the supplier and I just don't know what to choose.

Whatever you buy is likely to be under guarantee for a couple of years. So just buy cheap, if you don't care about looks or functions. John Lewis is a good bet because of the aftercare.

We have a halogen oven and hardly use the real oven now but there’s only us two.
