A bit of a moan/when oh when will the work begin?

We are planning a fairly large single storey extension. We did a kind of love it or list it thing whereby in the end we decided to love the house and build an extension. Planning went through last October and since then we have been gathering quotes which dh has taken the lead on. Anyhow, I'm getting frustrated now, there seems to be a lot of faffing about, dh thinks he's singled out a builder but this isn't quite right on the quote and then that isn't quite right. I can understand it to a point because there are many thousands of pounds involved. Just wondering if anyone else's project took quite a while to get off the ground. Even if we secure this particular builder, he can't start the build until May/June. I know this is a very first world problem but I see the build being costly but also finishing off what could be a lovely home and I want to drive it forward now that we have made the decision to go ahead and build, just a bit frustrated at the moment and wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and playing the waiting game.

It sounds like it’s your DH holding up progress. I can see it taking 4-6 weeks to get a few bids, but what you’re describing is definite faff. I’m waiting on planning permission in midMarch, and then I will probably be in the same boat with you!

Yes, I think it's the thought of parting with all of that money, we can afford it but we both know the value of money having both grown up with very little; I have a feeling the hold-up is more psychological than physically getting the numbers etc. it's just driving me bonkers at the moment as he has agreed to go ahead. He says these things take time to sort, I think I was hoping someone else would come along and say, yes, it took us a while too and that it's me being unreasonable because I am lacking patience. Good luck with your build Mimi.

DH is delaying it for no reason. It seems like it’s time to lay down the law basically. I’m sorry I have no useful suggestions or advice for you.
