How long are we likely to be without a shower?

We've had a catastrophic leak from the bathroom and into the kitchen.
Our shower has been capped off as it was the source and they had to cut into the wet wall to get to it.
Bathroom and kitchen stink of mould/damp.
All the wall panels need ripped out and replaced and there's a question mark over whether the timber sub frame is affected.
Insurance are involved and are aware we have an infant DS.

Does anyone have any experience of timescales for getting our home habitable again? We have a downstairs loo but are having to rely on family to shower etc.
DH thinks it could be months!
