Is 1.8m long enough for a kitchen island

I think it will be except we are having a 5 burner gas hob in the middle of it and all of a sudden it looks really small. Width will 1.4m.

How wide is the hob? Will it be central or could it go to one side to give more usable space in one place?

I would go bigger if the space And budget allows it. We have our last house was 2.2 and this one is 3m.

It's big enough without the hob. Having the job in that size space turns it more to a working area rather than a decent eating or social space. Mine is approx 2.1x1.2 and it is an idea, size. Great fr eating around and socialising etc and also to use as a working area but if the hob were in it, it would be totally different and I'm really glad I put it elsewhere. However I did have the space so lucky

My island is 1.8 by 1.2. 80 cm 5 ring induction hob in the middle. No seating as next to kitchen table. It works well, but the induction hob can double as work surface. Without this would at times by cramped.

Thanks all. Sorenipples husband won't budge on the gas hob (he's a chef) otherwise induction hob might work.

So it looks like we move hob or love kitchen. Both are are options at this stage. Just got to persuade DH who thinks I'm indecisive. I call it attention detail 🤣

sounds silly but the hob in the middle looks fab
i have this with equaly amounts of top both sides
i use 1 to work on and other to place things on. wish i had more on the working side but as mine is against a wall it wouldnt work to offset
If you can get the look correct offset can work on the island
Modern kitchens on an island often offset the hob
eg. 600 to the left them 1mtr+ to the right or whatever works
