What storage is needed for a child aged 5-12?

No playroom so toys, books and general crap (currently plastic tat but hoping that’ll go soon) all have to be stored in a bedroom if we don’t extend.

Please let me know what I need to consider Smile

It’ll have to be floor to ceiling and wall to wall and can only go on two walls, one opposite the other.

All suggestions welcome - thankyou.

I have a wall of kallax from ikea; the boxes are a great size for separating toy categories and storing them (I label the boxes too...)

And I have a few of the trofast units for Lego storage. And above those, shelves on the wall for books.

Bookcases.

Display shelves for ornaments / star wars figures / whatever.

And some deeper shelved stuff that storage boxes can be used on for general stuff. Possibly with some doors to hide stuff.

Looking forward, if homework will be done in room when in secondary, then a desk and a shelf to store school books above it might help too.

With bookcases / shelving, adjustable height shelves are useful.

(Plus somewhere for clothes/shoes but you haven't mentioned them so I guess that is sorted already?)

Wardrobe
Drawers
Kalax is great for toys and books
A long deep shelf higher up (like the Lack) is good for displaying things and further book storage
Desk with drawers for art/school stuff under

If you are thinking floor to ceiling, go for Pax. You can add drawers and rail for clothes and shelves for toys. I find kalax box to be too big for toys category. I use samla boxes, shoe boxes and trofast boxes . The one being played at front, the ones not used now at back in the deep shelf and it can be rotated when kid gets bored of things at front. Also use transparent boxes for all stationaries.

Best way to store a child is at Grandma's.
i'll get my coat

All these odd names for ikea. Also use drawer divider, complement etc for Pax.
