Could I put Ikea doors on DIY kitchen carcasses?

Hi everyone,

I love the look of the Ikea kitchens, but am not such a fan of their carcasses.

I really like the quality of the DIY kitchens carcasses, but the doors don't spark joy at all.

Is it mad to try and buy DIY kitchens carcasses with Ikea friendly door sizes, and have Ikea doors fitted on them instead?

Practically I don't know anything about fixings etc. But am trying to think outside of the box after being disappointed by the DIYK door samples that arrived here yesterday... They seem to look absolutely beautiful in the photos and in other people's houses, just not ours...

I've looked at units online but nothing much has caught my eye on there either.

All thoughts welcome, thank you!

How wide is the side part of the DIY Kitchen carcass? It would have to be the same width as an Ikea carcass. I.e. it's not just the overall measurement of the box, say 600mm; it's the measurement of the components. And the height! Ikea carcasses are 800mm high with an 80mm plinth, think DIY kitchens are shorter.

Think it's asking for trouble, sorry! I actually really rate the Ikea carcasses and the whole kitchen system - like the shallow drawers within drawers! So you can have one drawer front that hides two little drawers within. The assembly is a bit of a faff (so. many. boxes.) but if budget allows you can get someone else to do it. You could even dress them up (again, if budget stretches) with fronts & doors from Superfront or similar.

burritofan - thank you - yes, you're quite right. I think I have gone kitchen crazy and lost all common sense.

back to the drawing board it is then...
