Nice areas in Newcastle to live?

My son (21) is thinking of relocating to Newcastle. His office is in Tyne and wear. Can anyone guide us on a nice place to live? Rental up to £500 but the less the better! 1 bed would be fine but ideally 2 bed.

Tyne and Wear refers to the whole area (the valley of the Tyne river and Wear river) so if you can find out a more specific location of his work that would help.

I’ve lived in South Gosforth, Ilford Road, Jesmond and Heaton which are all good to live in - lots of students and young people as well as families generally.

Where exactly is his office in Tyne and wear?

Oh, that's how little I know about the area! Just looked on the map and it is near Murton village.

Mutton is a small village near the town of Seaham on the coat between Sunderland and Peterlee. It's a long way from Newcastle!

He could probably rent a nice house or flat in Sunderland or Seaham.

It is NE27.

Whitley Bay is worth a look. He should be able to rent something there, lots of social life, great transport links and lots of money being pumped into the area at the moment.

Oh sorry wrong Murton! That one is in North Tyneside so living in Newcastle much easier!

He could look in longbenton, Benton, wallsend

Penninepain · 05/02/2019 06:44

@likablum i thought that too! Googled it and apparantly its just behind Blue Reef in Tynemouth.
Who knew 😁

If his work is in Murton the following areas would be fab for him: Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, Monkseaton. All on the Metro system for when he goes into Newcastle for socialising, shopping etc. All are ‘naice’ areas on the coast with craft ale pubs, surfy type cafes, independent delis and quirky little shops.

BikeRunSki · 05/02/2019 07:26

If I were young now, I’d live in the city centre and get the metro out to the coast for work. How died he feel about that? What age is he? Family/partner?

makingithappen · 05/02/2019 08:23

He is 21 and single. Think he quite fancies the uni nightlife but has a very demanding job Mon - Fri.
