Big rug for under our bed

Our bedroom has wooden floorboards and I’d like to get a big rug to go under the bed and sort of “frame” it. Our bed is a Kingsize and allowing for enough rug around the edges I estimate I need a rug that is about 275cm square. I can’t find anything in the right dimensions online and the bespoke rug companies seem to be extortionate (like, more than it would cost to put a fitted carpet in the whole room). I don’t want anything fancy, just something nice and soft in a cream colour. Happy with synthetic.
Does anyone know if your average carpet shop will sell a bit of carpet cut to size and whip the edges? I know I could ask locally but just want to get a sense of whether this would be seen as a weird request.
Or any recommendations for sensibly-prices rug companies?

I must admit I am really surprised that the likes of Ikea and Dunelm don’t do under-bed rugs as a standard size.

That’s an interesting idea everybodyjack thanks. I thought it might look odd as our bed does have raised legs but the picture has one like that. However it looks like it’s sold out.

Thanks Eminybob. I’m not so keen on the shaggy pile to be honest, having looked a bit more closely. And that Wayfair guide is interesting because I haven’t been able to find anything suitable on wayfair, but their filters are not always great.

Yes, carpet shops will whip a carpet for you to use as a rug.

I'm trying to buy rugs too at the moment. It's almost impossible.

Hi, I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm OP, but it seems alot/waste of money to spend on a carpet or giant sized rug to be hidden under the bed. Unless it's nothing to special or cheap. Course as I write this I forgot exactly what you said, although something about an off cut, and getting them to do the edges? Just a thought that's all, sorry.

Looks like those bed frame rugs are the way to go OP! Especially the fluffy one. So perhaps I did have a point after all! I didn't know they existed.

You could try and 240x340cm sized rug? That works under my SK bed.
I bought a thin viscose one from Wayfair which wasnt too pricey and is ideal, keeps the room much warmer than just floorboards.

Try wayfair

ChampooPapi · 28/01/2019 19:32

wayfair 100% is what you want, so many different sizes and if your happy with man made fibres it'll be less then 100 pounds

JessieMcJessie · 28/01/2019 21:56

240 by 340 wouldn’t work because of room layout.

Any carpet shop should be able to make a rug for you by edging a carpet cut off. Our friends do this when they get new carpet for there caravan. As they like to be able to take it out to clean it.

Two of my bedrooms and my study in my house in the Uk have large rugs, which are carpet cu to the size I specified and the edges whipped. I use a local carpet place that is reliable and not extortionate.
