Relocating to Mansfield/Nottingham area, help!

Hi we're looking to relocate to somewhere between Mansfield and Nottingham area in the next few months. Nottingham is where my fella will be working and his family lives not far from Mansfield so it would be nice to be less than an hour away from either place.

I'm not familiar with these areas at all so would love any suggestions, such as which villages/towns are quaint and have a nice rural community feel, also which places are a bit rough and to be avoided.

Our budget is between £200-250k so probably can't be anywhere too fancy :P

Thanks in advance!

I’m in Nottingham, Wollaton to be exact and it’s lovely! First time buyers and we got a detached 3 bed for around your budget. We also have a nearby Waitrose which makes me feel extra fancy! Theres a nice shopping street with hairdresser, coffee shops and a good chippy (Cod’s Scallops). I’d go for the end away from Bilborough and Aspley though.
Beeston is also a good shout, it’s got a town centre (hopefully) going through a bit of redevelopment.

Ravenshead linby papplewick.. blidworth is also nice, but its an old mining village so youd not even nearly spend your budget there. The area is lovely as long as you avoid LIVING in the town centres, mansfield, Sutton in ashfield, kirkby.

Lots to do if youre outdoorsy.. cycle paths for miles, clumber park, rufford park, major oak etc.

That's our neck of the woods Mansfield/Nottingham.
I'm from Long Eaton originally too!

Give me a pm if you want any advice.

Oh & don't knock Sutton area. Yes town centre is rough but There are some very nice new housing estates now. You can get a lot of property for cheap!!

Old Blidworth is lovely (up near the Black Bull Inn) the rest is ok but there are nicer places to live. I moved out of Blidworth last year, the estates off the main road are getting worse.
